Solution Vista User Account Control and InstantAction

User Account Control (UAC) is a feature in Windows that can help prevent unauthorized changes to your computer. You can learn more about it here (link). Due to certain security restrictions put into effect by UAC, users using Vista and Internet Explorer 8 may experience difficulties using InstantAction. Such problems may include:

  • Trouble installing the InstantAction plugin

  • Unresponsive controls

  • Trouble launching games

While some of these problems can be bypassed by running Internet Explorer 8 "as administrator" or by disabling UAC, InstantAction does not suggest doing so. Instead, please contact your machine's or network's administrator.

Windows 7 Users and InstantAction

At this time, the Windows 7 beta is not supported by InstantAction. However, using Firefox may resolve many of the issues encountered by Windows 7 users. Additionally, some users have found that turning the UAC feature found in Windows 7 on may resolve some issues.

Firefox

InstantAction recommends that users experiencing conflict with UAC, Internet Explorer 8 and InstantAction use Firefox to access InstantAction. You can learn more about Firefox and download it for free here (link).

Adding InstantAction As a Trusted Site

Alternately, users may use these instructions to add InstantAction as a trusted site (link).
